Code of Conduct
At basement, we’ve always worked with trust and autonomy, and high standards. We trust people’s judgment.
This Code of Conduct exists to support it, not replace it. It puts into writing the shared expectations that already exist in how we work together - how we communicate, how we collaborate, and how we treat each other.
It applies to everyone working in the studio, regardless of contract modality, role, or seniority, across all work-related contexts, including communication tools, meetings, client interactions, events, and travel.
We expect everyone at basement to:
Assume good intentions.
Treat others with respect, even when you disagree.
Communicate clearly, directly, and professionally.
Give and receive feedback with the shared goal of improving the quality of the work.
Take full responsibility for their actions, work and mistakes. Flag mistakes early and ask for help to fix them.
Respect personal time, boundaries, and working hours.
Strong opinions are welcome. Disrespect is NOT.
We do not tolerate, under any circumstances:
Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind.
Abusive, threatening, or demeaning behavior.
Public shaming, dogpiling, or passive-aggressive communication.
Abuse of power or authority.
Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern.
Harassment
Harassment includes unwelcome, inappropriate, or harmful behavior that creates an intimidating, hostile, or uncomfortable environment.
This can take many forms, including but is not limited to:
Discriminatory, offensive or degrading comments related to personal characteristics (gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental health, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, age, race, nationality, or religion).
Unwelcome comments or judgments to other’s personal lifestyle choices or practices (nutrition, health, parenting, substance use, etc).
Sexualized images, language, jokes, or behavior that are out of context.
Any physical or simulated contact, unwelcome sexual attention, or repeated interactions that ignores boundaries or pressures intimacy without consent.
Threats of violence ,intimidation or behavior intended to pressure or control others.
Sharing private communications or other’s personal information without consent in ways that cause harm.
Context matters, intent is considered, and impact matters. If something feels off, it should be addressed.
Conflict & Disagreements
Disagreements are normal and often healthy. Not every awkward moment, blunt comment, or misalignment is a Code of Conduct violation.
We expect people to make a good-faith effort to resolve issues directly and respectfully when possible. When behavior consistently crosses a line or becomes harmful, or crosses the boundaries outlined here, this Code applies.
Clients & Confidentiality
When working with clients or partners, we act with professionalism and discretion. Client information is confidential and should never be shared without approval. The same applies to work in progress or finished work (You can read more about this here).
When you represent basement, you represent all of us.
Events, Travel & Substances
We expect responsible and moderate behavior at all work-related events and during work travel. Alcohol or other substances may be present in some contexts, but losing control or behaving in a way that negatively affects others or the work is not acceptable.
If interactions occur during private events involving the basement team and those interactions result in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, they may still be addressed by the studio.
Use good judgment, know your limits, and be mindful of the people around you.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behavior that may violate this Code of Conduct, speak up.
You can talk to your manager, our People Experience Lead or reach out directly to Facundo, Jose or Lisandro. Reports will be handled seriously, as confidentially as possible, and without retaliation.
Consequences
Breaches of this Code will be addressed thoughtfully and responsibly.
Actions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering context, severity, and impact, and may result in corrective action where appropriate, up to and including termination of the working relationship.
By working with basement, and by signing a contract with us, you acknowledge this Code of Conduct and agree to comply with it as part of your working relationship.
