Benefits, Perks and Time off
At basement, benefits are designed to support real life, not just work. The goal is simple: give people the time, flexibility, and resources they need to do great work without burning out. This is a living set of benefits and may evolve over time.
Annual In-Person Retreat
Once a year, we take a few days to get together, bond, learn, and spend time as a team. Dates will be announced in #hq with enough notice so you can plan to attend. Participation is expected.
At the moment, this applies to the basement crew based in Argentina. For international crew members, participation is evaluated case by case.
Paid Time Off
After 6 months of service (including the 3-month trial period), you get 14 days of paid vacation per year—this increases to 21 days after 5 years. We also observe US holidays.
For details on how to request time off and how PTO works, check the PTO page.
Q-days
You can take one day per quarter to do errants, medical appointment or use it as you think it is worth it.
To ask for one follow the process outline in this page.
Paid Sick Time

This applies when you’re unable to work due to illness, accident, or medical emergency, whether at home or hospitalized.
A medical certificate is required for all sick leave, including single-day absences.

If your birthday falls on a weekend, you can move it to another day with prior planning with your manager.

You can take 5 days of bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member, and 2 days for the death of an extended family member. If you expect to be away longer, talk to your manager so we can review your case.
Coworking space for BA
Every month, the BA team will have the opportunity to meet at a pre-defined coworking space, with medialunas for breakfast and a tasty lunch.
We’ll share the date in #ba-members with enough time to plan your attendance. El Chueco will also set up a calendar event so you can confirm your attendance and we can plan a great day.
